What kind of culture influences through technology can you see from today’s world?

Presently, people used to spend more time on computer. People tend to stay at home playing computer games or read articles from the internet rather than going out to library, exercise or joining society works. The spreading of new technologies make our life easier but of course it influences our social organization. We relied on technology to communicate with others and by that means, we are live in our own world. For instance, previous time, we can see children enjoys playing football anywhere even though there's no field to play, they will play on the street but nowadays, we barely found that. It is easier to find children going to cybercafe to play online games instead of seeing then at the field. In this case our healthy life has gone and exchange with a new culture.

Is there a possibility to reshape the (new) culture today via new technology, How?

From my perspective as a teenager, teenagers mostly influenced by the new coming technologies such as PSP, IPod, IPhone and etc. If we want to reshape our culture today, we have to depends on technology because all of us are attracted to new things. I guess, with the technology that we have, we can easily get access to internet and therefore, we should read more stories or articles and improves our general and specialize knowledge than previous time when internet hadn't exist. Thus, the technology develops our culture on reading and knowledge which led us to become a knowledgeable people and worldly. Hence, the habits of reading can be sprang up as our culture.

Personal reflection

This is last topic for this trimester and personally I discovered, I like to have this kind of tutorial sessions via internet rather than going to class and sit there waiting for answers from friends and lecturers. Good job to my lecturers Mr Radzi Bedu and Mdm Helena Song Sook Yee for guiding and making us better from day to day. I'll be really missed the Media Culture class and once again Thank you very much.

Media Imperialism can be defined as "one big giant company has power on other small companies and they can give orders before it is going to be issued.

Critical Reflection 1

We can relate Media Imperialism with what's happening in Gaza as the powerful nation such as United States keeps telling us and used their power of media to penetrate people's mind. They spread falsity news to the whole world in order to appropriate their actions or to grant their actions.

Critical Reflection 2

I believe, those who have power will definitely control the media. For example, every governments in this world have political power and by all means they used it to spread their own agenda in order to strengthen their place or position as a ruling party. If the media published the badness of the government side, most probably the media station will be warned or the license will be terminated.

I'm pretty happy this week since my complained last week has been taken seriously by lecturer Mdm Helena Song Sook Yee. I asked her to upload notes 2-3days before the class begins and she acted on it. Thank you.

Critical Reflection 1
Essentially, IM does affect our lives in term of communication. These days, people tend to sit at home and do their works through IM or email and thus they are not interacting with people. This will affects their social skills and therefore they are actually isolating themselves in their home or workspace.

Critical Reflection 2

Most of students spend time interacting with others using Instant Messaging. This won't make them better in life. They need to communicate in real life. As a human beings we actually need to interact face to face with others. When we talk with others in real life or real space, we tend to have better overall emotional interaction and understanding to each other compared to communicate through IM which the person or the receiver cannot understand the tone of mood, facial features and also the body language. Thus this will not make our social life more snappy and lively. Of course IM has made our life easier than before but at the same time, we still need to interact with people in real situation as a humanity.

Personal Reflection.

I find the topic given for this week is interesting since this topic is related to my daily life. I have nothing to be disgruntled since our MLC lecturers had done a good job and delivered a very clear content. Just one thing you guys need to look at, Please kindly upload notes 3-4 days before the class begins. I want to have better understanding before going to class.
